This week for our student spotlight we are highlighting Ted Falkenhayn. Ted is an incoming second year double majoring in Economics and Environmental and Urban Studies.
This summer, he is working as a research assistant for Professor Sabina Shaikh on a project regarding the policy gap surrounding endocrine disrupting chemicals and their link to diabetes. As a research assistant, Ted analyzes economic literature to help formulate environmental policy recommendations. When asked about his favorite part of the research, Ted replied “I enjoy how interdisciplinary the topic is and how it requires multiple perspectives to fully understand. With the project at the crossroads of health and environmental policy, I have been able to see firsthand how a group of diverse individuals come together to create novel research that impacts the field.”
