Passionate about the environment, social justice, and public policy, Marie is an experienced environmental and sustainability professional, interdisciplinary researcher, and proud alumna of UChicago’s Program on the Global Environment (’11).
Currently, Marie helps support a research team at the University of Minnesota’s Institute on the Environmentaffiliated with the Natural Capital Project. In this role, she manages projects, supports communications and strategic planning, and assists with research and engagement activities, exploring the benefits nature provides to people in sustainable cities and landscape planning. She has also led a project exploring barriers to equity and environmental justice in water organizations in Minnesota. Marie currently co-chairs the Institute’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and has mentored students through City of St. Paul’s Right Track and UCSC Doris Duke Conservation Scholar programs.
Before moving to Minnesota, Marie earned her M.S. in natural resources and environment at the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability (’14) with a focus on environmental policy and planning. During that program, Marie worked with a team of fellow students to develop the City of Detroit’s first greenhouse gas inventory, in support of the Detroit Climate Action Collaborative. Marie has worked with a variety of other environmental organizations across the Midwest, including the US EPA Office of Transportation and Air Quality (Ann Arbor, MI), Climate Generation(Minneapolis, MN), Metropolitan Planning Council(Chicago, IL), and Center for Neighborhood Technology(Chicago, IL). She also enjoyed her former life as a barista, having worked at several coffee shops throughout Chicago (Hallowed Grounds will forever be her favorite spot on campus!).
