Annabella Gong, AB'19
Name, Graduation Year: Annabella Gong, AB 19
This week's #studentspotlight is on Annabella Gong, an incoming 4th year majoring in Economics. As a 2nd year, Annabella was part of the Frizzell Learning and Speaker Series and was one of the students that helped bring Sam Kass to campus for a conversation on food security, health, and youth. Throughout her 3 years at Uchicago, Annabella has also been involved with the Phoenix Sustainability Initiative and even served as the president of PSI last year. Annabella has worked close with PGE helping organize events such as Earthfest and Documenting Ecosystems.
This summer, Annabella worked at Wellington Management with their Chicago-based business team. When asked what she enjoyed about her work this summer, Annabella responded “I enjoy the work because of the perpetual learning. Whether it's synthesizing the firm's internal investment research to support client efforts, or sitting in on some pretty interesting meetings, I am constantly amazed by the high level of investor and client exposure that I am gaining just as an intern. In the context of sustainability and the environment, what has struck me in my time here so far is how clients have seriously intensified their interest in socially responsible / impact investing and ESG, and how the asset management industry is in turn responding to this client demand.”
