GIScience Student Research Day

The Social Science Division and the Center for Spatial Data Science invite UChicago students to submit abstracts for talks and posters at the 2022 GISCI Student Research Day, to be held on May 20, 2022 from 1:00-3:00pm. Abstracts and RSVPs are due May 13th.

Calumet Collaborative - Summer Intern

The Calumet Collaborative seeks an intern to support communications and public engagement in the Calumet Region. Projects the intern may contribute to include community storytelling and mapping; planning for community open space; and community driven economic development.

Chicago Asian Americans for Environmental Justice (CAAEJ) - Community Engagement Intern

Chicago Asian Americans for Environmental Justice (CAAEJ) is a group of progressive Asian Americans in the greater Chicagoland area working towards environmental justice. The community engagement intern will be primarily responsible for coordinating and conducting canvassing, tabling, and other outreach to the Chinese community in Chicago about environmental issues, particularly safe soil practices in home gardening.


Practice Landscape: Ecological Assessment Research Internship (Metcalf)

Working in a pair and in close collaboration with Practice Landscape, the ecological assessment research intern will conduct historic, archival, and comparative research on the range of methods for analyzing and measuring the landscape. Additionally, there will be opportunity to work remotely on an ongoing project in Northern Minnesota.

United States Geological Survey: Midwest Climate Adaptation Science Center Internship (Metcalf)

The Midwest CASC is looking for a summer intern with an interest in climate change, scientific research, climate adaptation, government-community relations, and ecology.

Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene: Water Quality Lab Summer Technician (Metcalf)

Be a part of the Inorganic Wet Chemistry lab at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene! This is an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on laboratory experience participating in statewide drinking and surface water testing. 

Current: H2Now Summer Intern (Metcalf)

Current, Chicago’s water innovation hub, helps solve the region's water challenges by identifying promising technological solutions from around the world and developing pilot projects to demonstrate them in real-world settings. H2NOW Chicago started as a microbial water quality monitoring pilot project in 2019 and has become one of the platforms for testing new water quality monitoring technologies.

Environmental Frontiers Campus

Environmental Frontiers Campus is a research partnership with the Mansueto Institute for Urban Innovation and Facilities Services, through which undergraduate student research assistants analyze and visualize campus data to explore and enhance aspects of environmental sustainability, with an eye toward broader impact and applicability beyond the campus context.

Paris Study Abroad Sequence on Urbanism

The College’s new Urbanism sequence in Paris, next running in Winter 2023 and Winter 2025, provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to conduct a multidisciplinary study of the dynamism of cities.
